Second harmonium lesson! and what I learned...

I'll try to keep this brief. I wanted to cancel the lesson. I thought, "Who am I taking harmonium lessons? I'm not a good musician. I'm not some spiritual expert. And I don't wanna do ANYTHING!" But...I kept an open mind, and used this suggestion "just show up." So I did.
And you know what? That lesson with Sri Gaura Das from Kirtan Studios set me off on a great evening. He was patient, kind, and took me seriously, even though I imagined him getting sick of my clumsy rendition of a simple "Hare Krishna" chant. Want to hear something else? After the lesson, my heart felt a little lighter. And I was excited. I felt loved, I felt hopeful, and I felt capable.
I'm sure this says a lot of things but a few things I'm left with is that one - there is something worthwhile in trying things even when you don't want to; two - perhaps practice and chanting really is uplifting; and three - don't underestimate the power of connection and kindness.
Until my next inspiration, lokah samastha sukhino bhavantu, may all beings - including YOU and ME - be happy and free.
Marcie
